Who made you? — God the Father

What is the chief end of man? — To glorify God and enjoy Him forever

Soteriology

What did Jesus save you from? — Sin, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
What is sin? — Disobeying God
What has God appointed for every person at the end of their life? — Once to die, and then the judgment
Who is the judge? — Jesus
If it was just us being judged, would we be innocent or guilty? — Guilty, no one is righteous, no, not one
What is the punishment for sin? — The wages of sin is death, and suffering the wrath of God in the fires of hell
What did God the Father do to save us from our sin? — God loved us and sent His Son Jesus
What did Jesus do to save us from our sin?
  • Jesus lived for us and died for us
  • Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live and died the death we deserved
Can we come to God to be saved on our own? — No. We are dead in sin. The Holy Spirit must give us a new heart.
Do we do anything to earn salvation? — No. It is not by works, so no one can boast.
How are we saved? — By grace through faith in Jesus
What is grace? — God's free, loving gift of goodness to us
What is faith? — Trusting in the promises of God
What does God promise us in salvation?
  • We are forgiven; the blood of Jesus covers our sin
  • There is no punishment for those who are in Christ Jesus
  • Nothing can separate us from His love
How does the Bible describe being saved?
  • Being born again
  • Being given a heart of flesh instead of a heart of stone
  • Being washed clean
  • Dead bones coming alive
  • Freed from slavery to sin and made a slave to Christ
  • Being adopted into God's family
Where do believers go when they die? — To heaven, to be with Jesus
What will we still eagerly wait for in heaven? — Jesus' return to earth, when we are given new bodies in the new heavens and new earth
What does the word gospel mean, and what is it?
  • "Good news"
  • The good news is Jesus: who He is, what He did, and why He did it
Who is Jesus? — Jesus is the God-Man, both truly God and truly Man
What did Jesus do?
  • Born of a virgin
  • Lived a perfect life
  • Died on the cross
  • On the third day, rose again
  • Ascended to the right hand of God
  • Sent His Spirit to the church
  • Reigns over everything as King of kings and Lord of lords
Why did Jesus do what He did? — For His glory, to defeat the dragon, and to save His bride, the church
What do we do in response to the gospel? — Repent and believe
What does it mean to repent? — Hate and turn away from sin and turn to Jesus for forgiveness
God promises all that say and believe what will will be saved? — Those who say Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead will be saved
Does God still discipline his children? — Yes. There are still consequences for sin to make us more like Jesus
Now that we are saved, how do we live? — We live in joyful obedience to our King, Lord, and Savior Jesus

Christian Living

What are the rules?

Tell me about baptism?
  • We show that we have repented and believe
  • God gives us a bath, showing He has washed away our sins and that we belong to Him

How does God talk to us? — The Bible
How is the Bible different from any other book? — It was divinely inspired by God, without any errors
How do we talk to God? — Prayer. We can talk anytime to our heavenly Father

Governments and Spheres

What are the four governments? Who is over all of them? Who is the earthly authority over them?
  • Self – me
  • Family – husband/father
  • Church – pastor/elder
  • State – president/king
What power does each government hold?
  • state – the sword
  • church – keys of excommunication
  • family – disinheritance
What are the battles Christians are to fight?
  • flesh – sin in our hearts
  • world – unbelievers
  • devil – powers and principalities
How does Jesus defeat unbelievers? — He crushes their unbelief with the gospel and they become believers, or crushes them with judgment in hell
How did Jesus defeat powers and principalities? — He put them to open shame on the cross

Family

Why do Mommy and Daddy discipline you? — We love you, and the Bible tells us to
What are the rules on whom you can marry? — Boys marry girls, and girls marry boys. Not your family. Must be a Christian.
What is the commandment to husbands? — Love your wives
What is the commandment to wives? — Respect your husbands
